In our Hands is a ceramic art exhibition consisting of handmade porcelain vessels by Wendy Shirran. The various forms and surface decorations reference the artist’s personal relationship with Newfoundland and the culture she lived as a child in Bonavista, and now as an adult returning home. Her experiences provided an extraordinary living culture that she fears is now dying.
Each vessel is made to remind us of simple pleasures, harsh realities, survival, and relationships with each other and our environment. It offers a glimpse into where we have been, who we are, and where we are going as, “Newfoundlanders & Labradorians.”
